Rohit Sharma toss blooper at IND vs PAK (Source: X)

Babar Azam won a crucial toss against India in the T20 World Cup match at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. The Pakistan captain had no hesitation in opting to bowl first on a spicy pitch. The toss saw a hilarious moment involving Indian captain Rohit Sharma. Ravi Shastri asked Rohit to toss the coin, however, Rohit was waiting for Babar to throw the coin in the air before realising that he has the coin in his pocket, leaving Babar and Shastri in splits.

Meanwhile, this is a must win game for Pakistan to keep realistic hopes of reaching the Super 8s. Pakistan’s chances of progressing to the next round took a massive blow when the team suffered a shock upset against USA. If Pakistan lose against India and USA beat Ireland or India, Pakistan will be knocked out even if they win against Canada and Ireland in their remaining matches. Pakistan could also qualify if India lose their last two games to USA and Ireland but that is a very unlikely scenario.

Pakistan made one change to the playing XI and replaced Azam Khan with Babar Azam. India stepped on the park with an unchanged XI.

“We will bowl first because of the weather and moisture in the pitch. The conditions suit us, we have four fast bowlers. We will try to use it to our best. Past is past, we are looking forward to today’s match, we are ready and will give our 100%. Always a big game, our confidence is always high for India vs Pak. Azam Khan is resting,” said Babar Azam.

Rohit Sharma also wanted to bowl first but the coin did not go his way.

“Would’ve bowled first too. We need to assess how conditions play and come up with an idea of what a good score is. Those games have helped us assess conditions here. We’ve spoken about what we need to do as a batting unit to get a good score and then we’ve got the bowling unit to defend. Every game is important,” said Rohit Sharma.
